Beth – Practice Administrator

Beth first joined Dr. Michel’s team in 2006, and her overall career in the oral healthcare field first got started in 2003. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene from the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Dentistry and knows how to help with virtually all aspects of a busy dental office, from hygiene care to assisting to front desk duties! She loves that the whole team feels just like family.

Outside of work, Beth enjoys spending quality time with her wonderful husband and their two adult children. Her other hobbies include traveling as often as possible and doing arts and crafts.

Sloan – Scheduling and Treatment Plan Coordinator

Originally from Valley Falls, Sloan has several years of experience in dentistry under his belt. He graduated from Washburn University with his undergraduate degree, and the thing he loves the most about his work is being able to work alongside a friendly team that’s passionate about excellence in patient care. Improving organization and structure for his team fits his personality perfectly.

Outside of the dental office, Sloan loves watching football and golf. He also enjoys spending time outdoors with his family and dogs.

Tessa – Scheduling Coordinator Silver Lake

With over a decade of experience, Tessa has an Associate of Applied Science and enjoys scheduling patients for their treatment and helping the office run smoothly. Originally from Topeka, she is incredibly dedicated to our patients, and she enjoys seeing them leave the office with happier and healthier smiles.

Outside of working, Tessa spends much of her time with her husband and their two children. She also loves cooking, baking, and playing with her little ones at the park.

Ashley – Hygiene Scheduling Coordinator

A native of Topeka, Ashley has close to a decade of experience working in the dental field. She loves being able to coordinate our patients’ dental hygiene appointments so that they can receive the essential care they deserve. She also greatly appreciates the front staff’s teamwork and readiness to help out, and she enjoys seeing our patients leave with brighter and healthier smiles.

In her free time, Ashley loves being with her family and friends. Her hobbies involve hiking, visiting the beach, being outside, learning to play disc golf, and going to church!

Heather C. – Sleep and TMJ Scheduling Coordinator

With nearly a decade of experience, Heather loves being able to greet patients while checking them in and out for their appointments. Having the chance to make their visit with us incredible and pleasant is rewarding for her. She also enjoys working alongside her coworkers and seeing our patients leave with a more confident and healthier smile.

Away from the office, Heather lives with her high school sweetheart husband, and their son. Together, they enjoy family outings in their Jeep Wrangler on the weekends.

Nikki – Insurance & Billing Coordinator

Nikki is proud to help patients understand their dental insurance and fees while helping them strategize on how to manage their dental treatments. With close to three decades of experience in the field, she enjoys working with friendly and helpful staff while making sure patients get the personalized care they need. Ensuring that our patients get the coverage they deserve is extremely important to her, and she will do everything she can to make the process as smooth as possible.

If you don’t find her at the office, Nikki is likely spending time with her family and her beloved grandchildren. She also has Pomeranian dogs and enjoys being out in nature!

Jason – Dental Hygienist

In addition to earning his A.A.S. in dental hygiene from Johnson County Community College, Jason has an impressive 7+ years of experience in dentistry. Since joining our team in 2021, his favorite aspect of his job has been focusing on customer service and patient comfort. His empathy for his patients and their anxiety helps him do just that with everyone that walks through our doors!

When he isn’t at the office, you’ll most likely find him taking his family on hiking trips and spending time outdoors.

Megan – Dental Hygienist

A Kansas native, Megan has her associate degree in dental hygiene and her bachelor’s in health science. Today, she has more than 5 years of hands-on experience providing thorough dental checkups and educating patients on the importance of good oral health. For her, the best part of her job is the patients and staff.

When Megan isn’t helping patients enjoy healthy, happy smiles, you can most likely find her with her husband and two children. She also likes camping and photography!

Jennifer – Dental Hygienist

In addition to obtaining her bachelor’s degree in biochemistry from Benedictine College, Jennifer earned her bachelor’s degree in dental hygiene from the UMKC School of Dentistry. If that wasn’t impressive enough, she also has well over a decade of experience! Her passion for helping others is genuine, and she wants to help each patient feel at home at our office.

Jennifer loves all sports, but especially volleyball. In fact, she played for four years in college and is now a coach for a youth volleyball club! She also has four kids of her own and enjoys cheering them on at their practices and activities.

Melissa – Dental Hygienist

Originally from Auburn, Melissa loves taking care of her patients’ oral hygiene and teaching them how to make the most of their smiles. With over a decade of experience, she obtained her Associate in Dental Hygiene and has been enjoying the work she does. On top of helping patients, she likes being part of an exceptional team of coworkers who are friendly and helpful. With her outgoing personality, you can typically find her around the office utilizing her knowledge and skills to ensure patients have the best care.

Whenever she’s out of the office, Melissa usually spends time with her children and boyfriend. Her hobbies include crafting, DIY projects, watching movies, and attending live music events.

Sherelle – Dental Hygienist

Originally from Topeka, Sherelle has been in the dental world for over a decade and has both an Associate of Science and an Associate of Arts. At the office, you can find her helping patients improve their smiles while also educating them on how to maintain great oral health in the long run. On top of that, she loves having a caring team who share her passion for taking care of everyone who walks through our doors.

Outside of the dental office, Sherelle is married to her high school sweetheart and together they have three children. Other than helping others, she also enjoys dancing, singing, writing, and reading a good book.

Shalma – Dental Hygienist

From Topeka, KS, Shalma earned her Associate of Science in Dental Hygiene after working in the field as an assistant since 2020. She enjoys working with a helpful and insightful team that prioritizes patient care as well as improving each other’s expertise. Being able to explain proper oral hygiene techniques to patients, assess medical history and oral health, and build patient rapport is truly fulfilling for her.

Shalma prides herself on being able to adapt well to her environment and always being willing to learn something new. Away from the office, she enjoys hanging out with her two cats and two German shepherds, going to the gym, watching movies, and going line dancing with her friends!

Shania – Dental Hygienist

Shania is originally from Concordia, KS, and later moved to Lawrence, KS, and she’s been in the dental field for a few years and counting. As a dental hygienist, she enjoys providing preventive and therapeutic oral care to patients while working with a team that is passionate about maintaining and improving overall dental health. She also loves helping patients have optimal smiles and the office run smoothly.

When she isn’t at the office, Shania enjoys being outdoors and spending time with her friends and family. She also loves being a mother to her beautiful children.

Becky – Dental Assistant

Becky first entered dentistry in 1997 and has been a part of our office since 2005. In addition to being a dental assistant, she has extensive training in dental sleep medicine and is also a certified supragingival scaler.

After hours, she enjoys running and spending time with her kids.

Heather B. – Dental Assistant

Heather was originally born in Guyana, South America, but she has lived in the Topeka community for nearly 30 years now. She first joined our team in September of 2016, and her overall career in the field spans over 15 years! She loves spending time with such a tight-knit group of coworkers, and she’s always happy to fill in for any of the dental assistants if an unexpected illness pops up.

When she isn’t busy at work, you can usually find Heather working diligently in her gardening or going on bird-watching adventures.

Dawnly – Dental Assistant

Dawnly was born and raised right here in Kansas. She joined our practice in 2020, bringing roughly a decade of experience in the field of dentistry with her. Today, she loves working alongside such a welcoming team and making sure patients get the absolute best dental care. Her dedication to ensuring each patient is comfortable during their visit is what makes her the perfect fit for her job!

When she isn’t helping her patients on their journey to improved oral health, Dawnly soaks up every minute she can with her young son. She also enjoys watching football, being outdoors, hanging out with friends and family, and line dancing!

Maria – Dental Assistant

Maria has enjoyed working in dentistry for more than 20 years because it gives her the opportunity to help people feel better. Growing up in Salina, she attended Ell-Saline High School and Pueblo Community College where she studied expanded duties and functions in dental assisting.

Maria is the proud mother of one daughter and became a grandma in February of 2017! In her spare time, she attends her nieces’ and nephews’ sports games.
