Endodontics is the branch of dentistry related to internal tooth structure. If you have an internally damaged tooth, Dr. Michel may suggest a root canal to save your tooth from extraction. Modern root canal therapy is surprisingly comfortable, and many patients are so relaxed during treatment that they doze off!
When the canals that lead from the tooth pulp, or nerve, to the root sustain damage from a deep cavity, tooth fracture, or other trauma, they can become susceptible to infection. The result is pain and pressure that only worsens if left untreated. Ultimately, the pulp dies and you may experience tooth and bone loss, as well as acute pain that disrupts your life.
Dr. Michel eradicates early-stage infection with root canal therapy. He'll remove the infected tissue and fill the canals with a biocompatible material. Then, he'll affix a custom crown to restore your tooth and strengthen and protect it for years to come.
