About Us

Dr. Michael E. Michel, DDS, PA

After earning a BS from Kansas State University, Dr. Michel received his DDS from the University of Missouri’s Kansas City School of Dentistry. He opened a private practice in Topeka in 1981, and he has enjoyed the smiles of happy patients ever since.

Because he understands that dentistry is an evolving industry, Dr. Michel values continued education. His post-graduate studies through Bio Research in the area of temporo-mandibular joint dysfunction, or non-surgical TMJ, have developed his skills in diagnosing and treating this painful condition. Dr. Michel received the Harry M. Klenda Award from the Kansas Dental Association. He is a member of the American Dental Association, the Kansas Dental Association, and he is former president of the Topeka District Dental Society. He is also a member of Special Care Dentistry, and has recently reestablished a geriatric program at Aldersgate Village.

Dr. Michel’s dedication to the community has been a part of his professional life for years. He served on the United Way Board of Directors, was a board member and former president of the Hayden High School Board of Trustees, earned a fellowship in the American College of Dentists, is a member of the American Society for Geriatric Dentistry, and volunteers regularly at Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church.

He and his wife of twenty-eight years, Jan, have four children. Their youngest son and daughter attend Hayden High School and are active in school programs. Their eldest son earned a degree in engineering at Vanderbilt University and currently works in Shanghai, China. They are also proud of their eldest daughter who earned her degree at Southern Methodist University in Dallas and now works for the Make a Wish Foundation. Jan volunteers at Hayden High School, Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church, and Meals on Wheels. She was a former Junior League president in Topeka.

The Staff

Our staff continually pursues higher training and education to provide you with the most modern and superb dental care. We are all certified in CPR.

Sandra is a certified dental assistant with twenty-one years of experience. She has been with our office for fifteen years.

Stacey has fourteen years of experience as a certified dental assistant, and she has worked with us for eleven years as our financial coordinator and practice administrator. She is certified in supragingival scaling.

Crystal is a registered dental hygienist and dental assistant. She’s worked with our team for fourteen years.

Doug has been a registered dental hygienist for twenty-nine years, and he’s been with Dr. Michel’s office for five years.

Becky has been with us for two years, and she has ten years of experience as a dental assistant. Becky also earned certification in supragingival scaling.

Beth won the Golden Sealer Award and Colgate Star Award before becoming our dental hygienist two years ago.  Beth also has an extended care permit allowing her to care for our special needs patients.

Donna brings twenty years experience to our office. As scheduling coordinator, patients speak with her to arrange convenient appointments. We have enjoyed having Donna with us for the last two years.

Chrissy is a certified dental assistant with 4 years experience, and  we recently added her to our staff as Clinical Coordinator.
